gauahar khan, gauahar khan voting, lok sabha elections

Actor Gauahar Khan had a very confusing and disappointing experience while voting in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Earlier today, a video was circulated where she was seen coming out of the voting booth looking extremely furious. She told the paps that it was confusing and not organised properly. Later, she even dropped a video on Instagram stories sharing her ordeal on how she managed to vote without her name on the voting list. Appealing to the government, Gauahar said that an Aadhar card should be allowed to vote as an Indian citizen.

Gauahar said in the video, “I really have an appeal. Why do we have Aadhar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhar card is your identity that you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that. But when you go to voting counters with our Aadhar cards and ID proofs, they say you cannot vote because your name is not on the list. I’m just making a humble appeal that on the basis of your Aadhar card, you must be allowed to vote as an Indian citizen,” she said in the video.

Writes a note on Instagram about her voting experience

The Ishaqzaade actor even shared a picture on her Instagram, sharing her ordeal on how she managed to cast a vote this election. She wrote, “I had a very confusing and frustrating time to know that my n my family’s names were missing from the address that I have lived at for 9 years. Only 1 person from the family had received the voting slip. N the people who have left the building for years, their names were all present. Some of the people who were in charge were extremely rude, coz there were almost 100 people who were complaining of the same. And requesting to let them vote with Aadhar cards at the same time. But I did not give up, I went looking from booth to booth in my area. Finally found mine at my 15-year-old address along with my senior citizen mom.

She is. The one who has taught me to be patriotic since childhood. My dad was the son of a freedom fighter. Alhamdulillah. I didn’t want my vote to be wasted, as a citizen of the country it’s my duty to vote and be right in a democracy. I love my country and I feel responsible for it. Guys Plssssss go and vote. Find ur names and vote. Don’t miss it. Many thanks to @mumbaipolice your officers are really helpful and kind in this whole process. The volunteers are doing their best. A bad encounter with one frustrated volunteer should not deter you from voting, GO VOTE! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳,” Gauahar ended her note.
